air cooling effect in rtd

for fabricated thermowell is it necessary to have tapered tip so as to avoid air cooling effect in temperature measurement?

Many thermowells have blunt tips.

The shape of the tip affects the speed of response a little, and little else.

Agreed.

Ensure a spring is installed to maintain tip pressure and use heat paste to improve response.
