Safety Valve Body Repair Procedure

Safety valve body repair procedure needed:

Observation: The steam safety valve body - nozzle fixing threaded area found to have eroded

This erosion (observation) had been seen in superheater safety valve as well as in saturated steam safety valve. The depth of erosion is 10 mm MAX. around the nozzle for a height of 3 inches. The top portion of the thread got eroded.

The material of the saturated steam safety valve is A217 Gr WCB and the material for the superheated steam safety valve is A217 Gr WC9.

Change it for a new one, with original material and compliance certification. Repairs may not be worth the risk.

Agreed replace and dispose. Some plants I have worked at kept an inventory of spare PSVs for just such an occasion.
