R Stamp Conditions

07/13/2009 5:32 AM

dear all

I am going to repair some vessels (LPG Storage tanks) and gert them R Stamped. these Vessels were prepared in 1966 according to DIN Standards and are not U Stamped. I came to know that a vessels cannot be R stamped if it is not previously U Stamped. Is it true? If yes, What may be the next option to get them r Stamped?

One more thing..

According to http://www.sperkoengineering.com/html/Steps%20for%20R%20or%20Code%20Stamp.pdf

It stated (number 1) "The National Board "R" stamp is required in some states to make repairs or alterations to EXISTING ASME "code stamped" pressure vessels".

Good luck!
