changes viscosity with applied magnetic field strength. The most recent application I've seen was as a controllable damping fluid to imitate the properties of synovial fluid in a bionic knee joint.

Some motorcars are using it in suspension systems. It allows the driver to manually tailor suspension characteristics for specific operating conditions, or use onboard computing power to tailor the suspension characteristics during driving.

Another unique application is high precision polishing for optics. Invented at the University of Rochester and commercialized by QED Technologies - see http://qedmrf.com/. You can also search for academic papers and patents with keywords, and you will find some information on properties and formulations used in those applications.
