Take a LED with longish leads and bring into contact with a battery.

That should impress your friends.

PS watch the polarity and limit the current with a resistor!!!

Grab an electrolytic capacitor, connect it to a battery charging the capacitor....throw a bucket of water over your mate and then grab the charged capacitor and prod your mate on the bare skin with the two terminals of cap...that's "power elctronics" and a study of anthropology/biology at the same time.
