The main differance between the first &second is the range of pressure the fire fighting pump pressure is very high compared to the second general operating pump. And also the price is increces with range of pressure increases.

Where in the world are you?

Firewater pumps are made to various standards - probably the best known is NFPA but there are many others, LPC, CP52 etc. Because of the fact that they are manufactured to these standards they may be more expensive than the pumps you are used to.

SO WHY ? WHY NOT USE THE NORMAL OPERATION PUMP,SINCE PUMP IS ISOLATED AT ITS ROOM SO WHY THIS STANDARDS DEPAND ON?

WHAT I WANT TO SAY THE PUMP WILL BE FARE OF THE FIRE PALCE,IT WILL BE IN ITS ROOM SO WHY NFPA TAKE A SPECIAL STANDARDS FOR THE PUMP AND THEN IT'S EXPANSIVE!

Diesel-driven fixed installation fire-fighting pumps are designed to run either until the fuel runs out, or until they are stopped manually or until catastrophic self disassembly, whichever is the soonest.

The real reason due you want to be the pump manufacture. Having to answer to someone for the loss of life because the pump you supplied failed. It is for this that fire departments around the world have place specifications on pumps for fire use. The life lost my be one of their own.
