Kerosene Loss During Storage and Use

Can a significant amount of kerosene be lost if stored in an underground tank and dispensed using a metered pump?

Significant for a client to make us, a toll manufacturer, pay for the kerosene loss when we are not given any loss allowance for storage in an underground tank or for dispensing. The same client has given us a 4% loss allowance for isopropyl alcohol stored in an outside storage tank. Is this due to the difference in the properties of the two liquid or due to the location of the storage tanks? Thanks.

If you're losing significant kerosene from an underground tank, you should replace that tank. Someday, someone will have to deal with your losses.
