torque is force multiply by distance

in mechanical engineering, it is called "moment"

Dear Mr. kiran001,

NOT NECESSARILY. TORQUE results in angular movement "force multiply by distance" is known as BENDING MOMENT.

Torque is a twisting force, if applied axially at end of the bar, it will cause torsional stress.

"Torque is a measure of how much a force acting on an object causes that object to rotate. The object rotates about an axis, which we will call the pivot point, and will label 'O'. We will call the force 'F'. The distance from the pivot point to the point where the force acts is called the moment arm, and is denoted by 'r'. Note that this distance, 'r', is also a vector, and points from the axis of rotation to the point where the force acts. (Refer to Figure 1 for a pictorial representation of these definitions.)"

Damn, I can't find Figure 1.

Torque is equal to the Moment Force Multiplied by the distance based on axial forces produced about a shaft which causes rotational twistng or torsion.

When talking in terms of rotation of a shaft we call it torque.

When talking for example about a hinge door rotation its simply the Moment (force)

Ouch! Was the lesson about torque well-learned?

Yes that happened when I asked how to measure torque, and she told more the pain more is torque.

Dear Mr. Rakesh,

It appears more practical class than teaching.
