Fan Motor

What is the basic difference between a table fan motor and ceiling fan motor??

Why the sense of rotation is different in both the cases??

None.

It depends upon which end of the motor one is looking at, how the motor is wound and how the starting capacitor is connected to those windings..

And the profile of the blades. I don't see actually a difference in having a CW or CCW motor per se in either BTW: This question was already asked once in the forum few months back.

Sameerwakhare,

I noticed that the ceiling fans were much slower and the motors and blades were much bigger than table fans. Quieter too.

Most ceiling fans are reversable due to a switch that reverses the connection to one of the windings.

Another switch can select a different number of turns of the motor winding to change speed. There is a phase shifting capacitor built into the fan motor assembly too.

Some have lights.
