hi sir :

i would like to seek your assistance regarding our problem with wastewater step-type fine screens. The problem is the layer of rubbish/solids on screens keep on rolling back to water and only light materials like plastic are being discharged. is this a normal thing for this equipment?

our fine screens have the following technica data :

channel width - 2000mm

inclination - 50 degree

discharge height - 2217 mm

total height - 2800mm

water velocity - 1.05 meter per second

step motion speed - 1.5 meter per minute

maximum upstream water level - 1.810 meters

maximum downstream water level - 1.7400 meters

hoping for your kind analysis and recommendations.

What does the original equipment manufacturer have to say on the subject? If the manufacturer has been offered this problem to solve before, then the solution could be just a phone call away. Make the call!

You didn't state what the specific gravity of the solids are. The light material will float, while the heavier material will sink. If the specific gravity is close to 1, then the solids will be suspended within the water. When you say roll back to water, do you mean that the solids remain suspended instead of being trapped by the screen? Also, the water velocity is quite high. Who designed this, the supplier? If so, what information were they provided with when they did the design work?
