Mars Burps, But Not As We Know It

08/06/2009 8:44 AM

Scientists are baffled by the mechanisms that produce and destroy methane on Mars. They don't fit the Earth-based models. Are they missing something fundamentally important?

Link.

Yep. Not being there in person!

Trouble shooting over the phone is hard enough. Doing it interplanetary with expensive RC toys is likely way harder!

Plus not being earth its going to have a different set of rules it runs by.

Not much help but its all I got!

Something is breathing it and converting it to H2's and C2's. The only reason the Martians have not come to earth and eaten us is that we have too much oxygen in us.

I been thinking the martians have their own cattle herds in large underground caverns. They scored these cattle from several of their anal probe missions to earth. When the smell gets unbearable underground of Mars due to thousands of flatulating cows, those little green guys open up the vents and let some fresh air in...releasing heaps of methane into the atmosphere.

Good to know something about Mars and the cattle farm.

Are you a shepherd or the cow from the Mars?

Personally, I think it's because the Martians have a taste for beer, Mexican food and asparagus .

The fact they don't fit earthed based models doesn't surprise me. Earth doesn't seem to fit the supposed Earth based models either!

I am not sure how the are taking these samples on mars any way. A few sensors scattered out over a planet is far to wide and sparse of data collection system any way.

I see it as trying to measure a distance of a few feet with your cars odometer and not a tape measure. Its inaccuracy's and error levels exceeds the measurement itself.

3 feet +- a city block is not a valid measurement number in my book!
