does anyone know the components and how to build a 5000w inverter, modified or pure sine. to power my house?

Somebody does, for they are available off the shelf from a number of suppliers.

5KW to power your "house"?

Just how big is your "house"?

I can only think if a few things that would require 5KW of power in a avaerage home and all of them involve some rag head screaming "death to the infidels".

What are you on about?

There is no need to get Racial, this is a forum where we help and advise.

I can think of one thing that could require that amount of power Sunday Roast, no gas all electric.

I also have 8kW of electric under floor heating in my house. An average house in New Zealand has a supply of 60 amps about 15kW if you use it or not that is the consumers choice.

whut the heck of a waste of time are you directing the poor bloke to?!

From your link: "The inverter operates in an inaudible frequency range (20 kHz-100 kHz) and in the quasi-resonant mode."

Im no Lectercal ingineer, but I know THAT thing ain't gonna do what he's looking to do...

That is actually a very good link to a 1990 paper which describes an inverter design that is probably in commercial use TODAY. If the abstract (summary) seems incomprehensible, then the rest of the paper will be also and attempting to build a 5kW inverter would be pointless. Buying one will be only option. GA to the linker.

If your not good at scrounging for used or surplus components you will never build a good inverter cheaper than you can buy it!

Yeah, but ...

what with the US military leaving so much good stuff to scrounge through, one could assemble an army of Transformers!

Not to mention all the other sources available to one with a strong will.

Blessings to ALL who offer hope and help.

The average person CANNOT build a 5kW inverter, it is far too complicated and dangerous. Buy one off the shelf, it's a lot safer and will come out cheaper in the end.

For more information see the numerous previous on CR4 on the subject.

jack

GA Years back I designed 3KVA battery back up UPS and the selection and matching of components for the inverter were critical. Just scrounging parts to match a schematic will result in either poor performance or it not lasting under full load conditions.

Then there's the need to design and build your own printed circuit board to mount the parts. It is just too complicated and time consuming, even if you have a good clear circuit and PCB design, and readily available selection of suitable parts (including the custom wound transformer(s)).

Why do you a 5kW inverter? Do you not have mains power supply availiable?

The reason i ask this is that if you have mains power available you can use this as your storage by feeding the power you generate back into the National Grid, this will reverse your power meter.

You will not require such a large inverter, because the inverter that you would use would be rated to you generation ability only, you also would not require the expence of purchasing storage batteries. The battery would now be the power utility company.

For a small connection and line fee you will not need to maintane batterys of the expence of a large inverter.

The other advantage of using this system, is that you now will have a more reliable supply available and you can also suck off more power when you want it.

If you dont have a mains supply, buy an of the shelf 5kW inverter, dont bother trying to build one, not worth the hassle. Companys have spent hundreds of thousand 's of dollars developing their technoligy, and generic components and arent going to give this information away.

There are many off the shelf inverters that are inexpensive, relatively speaking, that will power your house. For you to build an inverter, it would consume quite a bit of your time, then add the amount of time spent searching for components, commissioning, testing, etc.
