Three-Phase Power Source

Hi everybody here,, I'd like anyone help me how to get a three phase source of 220 volt …having in mind that the available power source is three phase 380 volt Regards

What VA rating does it need to be?

If I understand you need three phase 220V 60Hz; for clarification 220V is voltage between phases. Is it correct? You can use transformer or power three phase converter.

Could you say more about your electrical needs: total power, amperage, kind of load, Wye or Delta,

etc. to select adequate to your load size of equipment. Please remember olso abut proper obercurrent and electric shock protection systems.

DEAR,

IF YOUR LOAD IS BALANCED LOAD, SAY 3 PHASE MOTORS, THEN AUTO TRANSFORMER OF SUITABLE RATING SHALL BE ECONOMICAL & EFFICIENT. WE HAVE DONE THIS EXERCISE SOME TIMES, SUCCESSFULLY.

Your information is not enough for us to help you.

Converting from 380V to 220 V is simple by getting a 3 phase step down transformer to step down from 380V to 3 phase 220 V system. But bear in mind that the capacity of the VA or KVA for the step down transformer is very importance as it is the capacity of the step down transformer that can provide the maximum power for your connected load. Here you does not mention your KVA requirement.

There used to be a great 3-phase power source (HP/Agilent 6834B) that might be overkill for you application. I would check with the plethora of used test equipment companies on the web. Good luck.

wow!! your question is very interesting but it is quite simple. The 380V 3-phase system is simply you got 220V from any of one phase to neutral. Don't let yourself trapped in very complicated solution. All you have to is use the dry-type isolation step-down 220V 3-phase system such as 1.) 380/220/127V auto-transformer, or 2.) 220V multi-taps transformer (380/220Y). Its easy and economical. Use only voltage regalator/stabilizer if you have a sentive electronics load. But if your loads are inductive and resistive loads (such motors, A/C units,Heaters) no need to use stabilers since these load can operates plus/minus 5% of its nameplate rating. When Sizing the transformers must always add to your net load 20% for intensity effect due to inrush/transient current spikes caused by inductive loads during start-up.(for example 500kva @ 800A, 1000KVA @1600A on MDB main.
