HFO or Furnace oil of How many Viscosity grades commercially available? How to select HFO for engine genset? If I buy HFO of 300cst at 50 deg C and my engine maker wants 20 cst, what to do?

Give the fuel supplier the engine manufacturer's fuel specification.

There are about 6 different grades of furnace oil. The viscosity of which is different. Use is depended on your locations winter temperature and the furnace specs. Colder climates use a lower viscosity oil.

We are not talking about a furnace but a engine. So use the manufactures recommended oil grade which is most likely diesel fuel not fuel oil for home heating.
