Computer Drive Problem

08/28/2009 1:11 AM

dear all, when i double click on any of the drive be it C:, D:, OR E:, i come across with "open with" window. i don't know what is the problem, but if i right click on that drive and click explore then the specified drive opens up.

can you pls help me so that when ever i double click my drive(c d e) , only my drives open and not the "open with" window.

Sounds like your mouse buttons are switched.

Assuming you have Windows XP,

  1. Open Control Panel
  2. Select the Mouse icon and open
  3. The first tab should be Buttons
  4. Uncheck the box titled: "Switch Primary and Secondary Buttons"

That should do it.

If that is the case, then my only other solution would be to reinstall windoze.

And by the way, please don't call me "dear", it sounds too femme. Make it "dude" or "man", and we'll get along just fine.

Manas,

Infected or messed with by someone who got control of it when you weren't looking. Or from the internet if you are setup for sharing control.

Hard to say.

Manas,

What happens when you right click on them?

Do you get a menu that has "properties" at the bottom?

If so select properties and you will see what the Drive icons are assigned to.

For C Drive a drive properties window should open and say C DRIVE properties on the blue bar. For the shortcut tab window Target should be C:\ General tab should say what drive it is and location is where the icon is located.

If the Icons aren't Drives you can change their names according to what you found and replace them with ones found by clicking on START and finding and clicking on the Icon "My Computer" on the menu. Then right click on the Drive Icon and select "Create Shortcut" from the dropdown menu. You will get a message about "Windows can not create a shortcut here". Select yes and it will put it on your desktop.

Do that for each drive Icon you wish to place an Icon for on your desktop.

hey thanks to all, i have found the solution 1. Open Start>>Run and type cmd and press enter. This will open a command prompt window. On this command prompt window type the following steps. 2. type cd 3. type attrib -r -h -s autorun.inf 4. type del autorun.inf 5. now type d:or e: or f: and press enter for d:/e:/f: drive partition. Now repeat steps 3 and 4. Similarly repeat step 5 for all your hard disk partition. Restart your system and your trouble will be fixed.
