Earthing to Achieve Resistance Less Than 5 Ohms

09/09/2009 2:50 AM

1)we are in the process of installing a new gen set of 50kva and would like to know how many earthing points should be provided.

2) can we use ss 304 tube 25 mm od for earthing instead of galvanised tube.

3) what is the composition of the compound to be inserted into the bored hole in the ground along with the electrode

4) what would be the length and the design of the electrode to be inserted into the bored hole

For proper earthing design, soil data should be known. For normal clay soil, following could be the solution.

1. Use Copper rod as earthing electorode 3 Mtr*25 mm dia with 2*70 mm dia Copper conductor. upto a depth of 20 feet.

2. If you dont get required results install more eartdhing electrode in parrallel.

3. The best option is to to have a bore hole upto 20 feet below ground water moisture level and place the earthing electorde therein.

4. S/S rods 25 mm dai can be use with the possibility of more electrodes in parallel.

you are welcom
