Couly you anyone explain me about the significant of 'Y' - co efficient from table 304.1.1 in wall thickness calculation as per B31.3. why this to be considered and reason behind that?
Naif, t will easily exceed D/6 when comes to high pressure small bore piping/tubing. I have a hydraulic system where I need to design the tubing/piping to withstand 10,000psi. I found a book that suggest using chapter IX of b31.3 but the problem is a790 is not listed. Still struggling to get a solution...
If the material is not listed in Table A-1 then a prudent approach is to look up the stresses in the material standard or globalspec etc. Use the lower of two thirds yield or one third tensile for your allowable stress.
