I use solar panels, battery bank and invertor for my home in NW Washington. About once every year or two I have to fire up my Genset to bring batteries up if it has snowed for weeks and weeks and the clouds have been too thick. My 10 kW Genset uses 2 gallons (US) per 8 hours of run time. However, the load on the Genset is relatively constant and is at 1/2 kW power applied to re-charge system. You would need to calculate the load required, as the load will provide force against the engine which will affect gal/hr. You could also run a few trials and log the consumption. This isn't answering your question directly, but hopefully provides some things to look into that will help you get there.

If you are using Natural gas with NCV of 9000 Kcal/Nm3, then as per Deutz gas engine, the gas consumption shall be about 0.258 Nm3 per kwh. Hope this helps you. Regards, Ram

Hi (calorafic value) FOR NG 34.02 Mj/m3 then,

Q=Hi x V x 0.278

Q = Heat input kW

V = Gas consumption m3/hr (For your question V = 409.83 m3/hr (0.106 m3/kWh)
