Those are ALWAYS scams. Never have anything to due with people who ask for either your bank or other account numbers. Also be careful if they give you checks to deposit, as they might bounce and leave you owing the balance.

I also get these things from time to time.

You have to wonder, how can you win when you never joined in the first place? You never sent a letter, an application form or bought a ticket and yet they're giving you a prize?

The email or letter also asks you to send them money so that the prize can be sent to you (either for postage, taxes, or whatever). Once you send it, you can kiss that money goodbye. Other scams will ask for your bank account number so that they can directly deposit it. What they really mean is so that they can withdraw from it.

Never ever reply to these kinds of things. I read about a guy in a magazine who lost millions. Better to work for your money rather than gamble for it.

Ignore it! You can try googling their name on the internet and get information. I once received such a letter claiming that I won a prize. I typed their name in Google and got several hits saying that this was a scam. It also explained how they can get money from you.

Just remember, you cannot have won if you didn't join or buy a ticket. They lifted your name off some unprotected server or they may even be employees in your bank. If you want, you can report it to some government agency (I wouldn't know which one).

Even buying a ticket is not safe. A co-worker once got a letter asking him to join a lottery. He bought a ticket (paid for it via mail), then over a series of several months, was informed that his entry was showing up during the preliminary draws. He kept sending money to continue being in for the grand prize. Eventually he gave up after spending quite a sum of money. I told him that he'd been scammed but he believed that he could have won if he had just continued. Some guys never get it.

I ignore them, but they are constantly sending and sending. I tried to play it as free, but you can not participate in the game if they do not give your credit card number.
I am from Serbia and apologize for the bad English.

A number of pending winners listed here may be qualified to receive a check in the amount specified by verifying their PIN # on the following F.A.S.T. form, in conjunction with submitting the winning entry in accordance with FreeLotto rules, terms and conditions. I DELEATED THE FIRST CONFIRMATION WHICH WAS THE WINNING NUMBERS AND THEY WILL NOT SEND ANYTHING BUT THE SAME RECORDED EMAIL ABOUT TSN NUMBRES SHOULD BE IN THE SUBJECT BOX AND WILL NOT SEND MY CONFIRMATION NUMBRES FOR THAT YHE WINNING DATE TO ME . COULD YOU TELL ME IF THERE IS A REAL FREELOTTO AND IS IT RUN BY CEO KEVIN ARINON AND IS IT IN NEW YORK.

Yes....Freelotto is a legitimate site run out of New York by Kevin.....I'm not sure if that is the correct spelling of his last name though. I have been playing it for about the last eight years now. If you are registered you can go to the web site and click on results for each day. Right under the days results will show the numbers you picked for that day and how many you had right and if you won anything. I beleive your numbers along with your TSN numbers will show on the results page for one month. The email you are talking about showing you 'won' those amounts says that it is only if you are signed up with their F.A.S.T account (which you pay a small fee for them to automatically play your same numbers everyday) and you have the winning numbers. You need to read all the rules and all the fine print. I have never signed up for the F.A.S.T service as I can't afford it....even if it is reasonably priced. I've had several small wins over the eight years but nothing substantial as of yet.

Re: what about free lotto?

LOL.....yes...you are absolutely right....this is the net and it pays to be skeptical. I started playing Freelotto before all these internet scams were so abundant. Lots of scammers use legitimate websites by reproducing their pages to look just like the original site. I have seen this happen with other sites such as eBay and myspace as well....phishing for your information. I do know that Freelotto sent out a bulletin quite some time ago to all of it's members warning that someone was using their name and look alike web pages in this manner. But the "real" Freelotto site is free to play. They have the F.A.S.T. account for those that choose not to come to the site and play everyday. I myself do not use the F.A.S.T. account and play different numbers all the time. The winnings all come from the advertisers on the site is why it does not cost anything to play. I don't care one way or another whether you think I am 'part of this so-called scam' or not.....I was just trying to shed a little light on the subject. If you will read closer on those emails you will see that it says "you MAY be a winner" not that you ARE a winner. By everyones accents on this message board I would guess most of you don't have a total understanding of the english language and could easily misconstrue the intent of the messages whether they be legitimate or not. Good luck to all of you.....I'll let you know when I win the 'big one'....lol.

I have won a few dollar prizes by playing Freelotto. If you follow their rules and you have winning numbers (see how game is played on their website) and make the request for your winnings exactly like they ask, then I believe you'll get your money. I know I got mine...when I won.

Dear Guest, Please let me know. I am also getting constant email telling me that I have won $100, $10,000 and $1,000,000. One even stated $10,000,000. I have tried to ignore this but if they were fake, wouldn't some security watchdog have shut them down? PLEASE let me know about the separate account thing, as I was considring same. Simon,

The sad fact is that security watchdogs have a lot of things to watch out for (millions of websites and even more emails). It's easy to shut down a site or email address but it's also just as easy to create another one.

These people will tell you that you've won something and then will ask you to deposit some money so that they can process your winnings and send them. They'll even tell you that you have to pay for taxes, for paying off some government official, or anything that they can come up with. You'll send the money and that may be the end of that. Sometimes, they'll come back and say that the money is not enough because of this and that, and you'll have to send more.

Soon, you'll come to the realization that you've sent so much money but you haven't received anything yet. You'll ask them about it and then you'll hear nothing more from them. Your money is gone and you have just learned a very expensive lesson.

Just think. You didn't join their lottery, didn't fill up any application forms, didn't buy any ticket, and yet, here they are telling you that you've won. How did that happen?

Just forget about the email and, if you want, you can report it to the authorities. Just do not reply or send them any money or your bank account numbers, passwords, etc. Forget about it.

Spend your $9.99 somewhere else. They tend to send such email to you daily, the more you see, the bigger chances you will take your credit card out from your wallet and play. Because every email they will have statement like this "I am thrilled to bring you this official notice which confirms The Awards Committee's nomination of (your name) as a guaranteed prize winner pending submission of the winning entry. "

Are they really going to pay everyone 1 million. Guaranteed prize can be $1.00. It is a guaranteed prize. You paid $9.99 and your gauranteed prize is $1.00. Their profit is $8.99. They tend to send 10,000 emails out to people, at least half of them will respond to this email. How much profit they are making in a day just by sending emails?

I also have been informed that I won $300, $10,000 and $1M. I haven't replied.

I don't really believe those 'news articles' on Eric Prevost (France) and Bill Herriott (Glasgow) which could easily have been false information given to the press. Has anyone had any direct confirmation of payment from these individuals?

Does anyone know of people who genuinely and verifiably were PAID winnings as Free Lotto claims?

We've even had some misguided people who have been spammed by this company trying to claim their win through our Contact Us form. This post will hopefully head off many of those posts, emails, submissions, and will serve as a reference post for those who do request information on this company.

Fraudwatchers is in no way affiliated with Freelotto. Fraudwatchers does not endorse, sponsor, or run any sort of lottery, sweepstakes or prize promotion. We do not recommend any online "lottery" system, period. If anyone has mentioned our name in conjunction with an online or email lottery of any kind, you can be sure that this lottery or sweepstakes is a scam.

Keep in mind that you cannot win a lottery you did not enter or without purchasing a ticket. The majority of countries (including the entire UK and the whole of North America) make it illegal for any sweepstakes or lottery to ask for an "advance fee" from you before you claim a prize. You owe taxes to the appropriate government agencies, you should never pay taxes to a lottery or sweepstakes. Most legitimate lotteries require that you be a citizen or resident in order to win, and playing foreign lotteries by mail or phone is a violation of federal law in the United States.

If you must play the lottery, purchase tickets to your local national or state lottery, in person, at a properly licensed ticket dealer. Below are some facts that you need to be aware of about Freelotto.

1. Freelotto is not completely free. Companies cannot afford to give away millions for nothing as a business plan. They do not give away millions out of the goodness of their hearts. If you are playing the "free" version, expect to be bombarded by marketing emails sent out by Freelotto's "marketing partner" PlasmaNet. PlasmaNet is widely regarded to be a company that disregards email etiquette, continuing to spam email users even after they have opted out of mailings. Some users have reported as many as 20 to 60 spam emails a day after signing up. Freelotto makes money off of you by, at the very least, subjecting you to ads for a marketer's product.

If you sign up for their subscription service (F.A.S.T), you can expect to be charged a monthly fee for the privilege.

Therefore, Freelotto is not truly free.

2. Freelotto is not a lottery. Freelotto.com (http://www.freelotto.com) is an online sweepstakes, not a lottery. They state this in their own disclaimers, such as the bottom of their Rules page.

http://www.freelotto.com/Rules.asp

Quote:

Welcome to FreeLotto.com. We are the largest online lottery style sweepstakes site.
Therefore, Freelotto is not a lottery, either. Even the name is misleading.

3. Your "winning notification" is not a winning notification.

Did you receive an email that looked something like this?

Quote:
MEMORANDUM
Office of Prize Administration

DATE: 12/11/2006
TO: C. Alison, CFO
FROM: S. Roman, Prize Administrator
RE: Paid & Pending Check Release Status Notification

with FreeLotto rules, terms and conditions. The convenient
F.A.S.T. service guarantees that a winning check in the
amount of $1 Million will be released to its rightful
winner upon said submission in conjunction with the rules.
Congratulations! You haven't won a dime, but you have joined one of the lucky millions to be spammed by an advertisement for Freelotto's F.A.S.T. service. You've won the privilege of paying a monthly fee to continue not winning a prize, and possibly the fun of not being able to cancel the monthly billing once you decide it's a waste of money.

Try reading the fine print on this notice. Notice it says that IF you subscribe, and IF you win, you will receive a prize. True, presumably. I can also truthfully state that IF I should happen to father a set of quintuplets, and IF I follow that up by fathering a set of twins, I would be the father of seven children. Both statements are just as true. And frankly, the odds of either one of them happening are astronomical. Particularly as I am female. Your chances of winning a Freelotto prize of any great value are about as good as my chances of fathering seven children.

4. Freelotto is not technically a scam or illegal, just a waste of money.

At least, it's a waste of money in my personal opinion. No, Freelotto cannot be reported to your local police, the government, the F.B.I, the C.I.A, the C.I.D. or the I.R.S. for breaking the law. No, we cannot complain to the web host and get them shut down. If they could have been shut down, believe me, I would have done so months ago.

So far as we can determine, they do comply with the law by placing the true odds of winning, their "marketing email" requirements, and other disclaimers in their emails and on site. Generally in nearly microscopic fine print and deceptively worded paragraphs making heavy use of the words "if", "may" and "might", but they do seem to comply with the law enough to keep from being an illegal sweepstakes or lottery.

Should you feel they engage in deceptive marketing or you have been billed for service after cancellation, please report them to the FTC, the Better Business Bureau and perhaps the New York Attorney General.

I've been playing Freelotto for about 8 years. I play for both me and my wife. But I didn't sign up for F.A.S.T. since I don't want to spend the money on something that has enormous odds of paying off. But playing for free is kind of fun. My wife and I have occassionally won $1 (3 correct numbers out of 6), and I once won $5 (4 out of 6). I actually keep track of our winnings and since we began, my wife has won $52 and I have won $42. (I guess my wife's numbers are luckier. LOL) Not much of a return for 8 years, but I'm retired and it gives me something to do.

Also, if you do win the $1, don't expect the check quickly. It takes Freelotto about 3 months to pay.

BTW, I used to play iwon and won $1,000. But I stopped playing years ago when they changed the site and I couldn't figure out how to play.

I play free lotto also i can assure they will pay if you won. I have won several 1 dollar wins and a few 3 dollar wins. No big bucks yet. I have received many false advertisments saying i won from spammers.

How could you expect to win anything if you didn't play.... beware of fraudulent emails for some jokers claiming to be from free lotto.

Those emails do not mean you've won. Read the FAQs section of the website. People really do win. This site spams A LOT. The emails you're talking about aren't to inform you that YOU HAVE won they are telling you that YOU MAY WIN, and they want you to use the FAST service. But you don't have to sign up. Read the FAQ on the website, it explains how it works.

Quoted directly off the freelotto website:

(quote)If you win a prize from FreeLotto, you will receive an e-mail with the subject line "First Name,Last Name, YOU HAVE WON!"

Everyday you will receive a RESULTS EMAIL. This message will list the games you played, the numbers you have matched, and the amount, if any you have won. The FreeLotto daily results email is the sole notification of any prize winnings and prize winners must claim any prize by following the instructions within the FreeLotto daily results email. In a typical month we process in excess of 25,000 prizes ranging from $1.00 to as much as $10,000,000.00. If you receive a notice that says PENDING next to your name it means that you can win that prize "pending" the submission by you of a winning entry in any future FreeLotto drawing. It does NOT mean that you won a prize. (unquote)

I've only ever won $1 to $5 prizes, but it is still free money.

In short, those emails you recieve with the $$ amount highlighted in yellow and pending are not winning notifications, they are spam, and only trying to get you to sign up for FAST. But you can win.

Like everyone else here I have recieved many 'winning' emails, none of which I have responded to. I did join ffree lotto but have not joined anything else. I have recieved many fake emails in the past that always require money to be paid by me before the payment can be paid, and as of yet, this has not happened. I shall paste a copy of what my last email contained...

Yes, Freelotto is real, yes they send out a spammy e-mail once a day that makes you think you won the first time you see it.

But DUDE, you can check the results daily on the freakin website.

1)There's a tab that says results.

2)When you click on that, you have an option to view the last 30 days of your activity.

3)If you got at least 4/6 numbers ON THE 6 offered "sweepstakes", you win a prize.

4)It's mailed in the form of a post card you can cash at your bank, ($1 and $3 ones did,) and from the looks of it they mail a lot of these. It's good for 1 year from the date sent.

5)Read the faq, and don't get wigged out about any e-mail you get, just check your results...

6)When you play, you get an e-mail for each set of #s you pick, that e-mail is what you use to claim your prize.

I thought I had won too when I first started playing. Back then you couldn't check your results so easy.

IT'S REAL AND AWESOME

THIS IS THE FINAL WORD!!!
