Nope, but you can have "average mileage" which will probably vary...

Sorry Ronak, but if you found this site, you can also find a online dictionary. Dictionary.com would be a great place to start.

Look up average

Look up mileage.

Then you will achieve enlightenment.

Hi Ronak

The hard part is to ask the question in the correct way, to answer it would then be easy. There is no point in all of us being confused!

I guess what you're asking is to do with when they quote Urban Mileage and Highway Mileage, which are usually different figures based on the fact that the accelerator pedal will be used more often during the Urban session and hence will produce a lower mileage figure than those derived from the Highway session.

However, if you combine the two figures, either on a time spent basis or on a mileage basis or any other basis, you will get an Average Mileage figure.

I have no idea if this is how the different countries calculate their figures because those figures are probably influenced by lobbying from their local manufacturers in order to fool the gullible public into believing their figures are better than they really are.

It's a lot cheaper to get marketing mileage by manipulating statistics than by doing some tough engineering - but that path always finishes in a dead end - as Detroit has recently discovered.

Hello Ronak,

I wish you luck on CR4!

There is lots of clever Members here and they will offer all the help they can.

I have pasted your request in a single line for reference below in Bold.

(I m confused btwm 2 terminology -mileage -average are they the same...?)

With regard to your request...................

In answer to your request, "mileage" is in no way connected to "average".

"A 'mile' is a Measure of length".

"An 'average' is the 'mean value' or quantity of several numbers or figures".

For instance if you have five different figures [10, 20, 30, 40, 50].

To get the 'AVERAGE', add the figures together and divide by the amount of figures, in this case there is five............... The Total is 150 ÷ 5 = 30. So 30 is the 'average' of these five figures.

Because an 'average' can apply to any amount of figures it can also include a number of 'miles', Kilometres, Kilograms, the number of blue cars owned by people in your town, or anything to do with figures. For instance if you are measuring the distance between say, 9 Towns and the coast; the 'length or distance' added together is called the 'Mileage'. Divide the 'Mileage' by the number of road lengths, which is 9, and you get the 'Average'.

The figure you have, 1, 2, 300, 20,000 as a total does not matter. And please remember any figures mentioned here are examples only

If you were referring to the Metric System, then The term to use for the total is Kilometres, or in weight it would be 'Kilo's, or Kilograms.

Please do not take this as an insult, and I do realise 'English' is not your first language, but please try to use complete words and phrases when you can, OK?. It is more professional and more easily understood.

Please get back to me if you need more help.

I hope this makes things a little easier for you.

Hi babybear..!!

Well as you said I m not very much in use to write in English n hence it made a little confusion I guess...

Thanx for ur suggestion.

The thing is we in India use these terminologies unevenly while talking about vehicle efficiency. .some times we say average n some time mileage to represent the same thing. So that's how this confusion arises in my mind

Now cleared.

Have a nice day..!!

Hello Ronak,

I thank you so much for your very kind reply post!

No problems with not understanding my friend. I can understand your problems and, you are doing far better than me who can speak 'English' (my version) which even my friend's sometimes have to ask twice before they realise what I have said!

I think you are brave joining a site whose main Language is English. I hate to think how I would manage if I joined a site who's Language was Indian?

So you understand the difference between the separate words now?

Take care.

Hi Roonak, I have read your posts several times. Having done so you spell words corectly which I as an Englishman often get rong. There is something not quite right here and it may be you are not being completly open with me and/or CR4?

You sometimes write very good sentences that include what seems to me to be silly words or shortened words on perpose.

Why leave it 'til your 25th post before saying you do not understand something so basic?

As another post pointed out if you can find this site, and navegate it, you are more than capable of finding a Dictionery site. And, BTW I only correspond by the open forum or PM.
