Pulley Specs

12/29/2006 11:59 AM

I urgently need to know a pulley material equivalent to BSS 1456A in either ASTM or AISI. The application is crane pulleys. Hope you all had a Happy Christmas (if relevant) and Best Wishes for the New Year.

Thanks. But that is precisely what the crane operator wants to avoid, so he can develop a spec from this side of the Atlantic.

I have found some mentions to BSS 1456A as a cast (grey) steel.

As you are in a hurry and your application is not so precise, what about using laminated steel to build them?

The alternative here in Mexico seems to be a low alloy hot rolled hollow bar product. (Heavy wall mechanical tube). But I do not think that a laminated product like this, and as you suggest, is the answer. Roger

I see. I was thinking about a thick plate, but...

Ordiary grey steel would fit. Check against some typical load values, this kind of things usually are not so heavily-stressed materials.
