How to Crush Ductile Cast Iron

10/13/2009 10:01 PM

i need to crush runners & raisers that develop from casting to reuse again. now these runners are packed in the vibrating feeder and did not go to the furnace. it will be easy to put to the furnace if these runners are crush to small pieces.

where should i find a crusher or how i fabricate a crusher using hydraulic jack.

Material is ductile cast iron ASTM 65-45-12

ultimate tensile stress 448 MPa

Sounds to me that you need somekind of hammermill crusher. I don't think a shredder will work on cast iron. Of course it all depends on the sizes of your runners. There are a lot of that type used equipment on the market right now with the slowdown in the US. You can contact me at tcinc002@aol.com for further discussions, if you're in the market.

Cast iron crushes easily for the most part, he's refering to ductile iron which is harder to crush.
