Two-Pole Connection

10/16/2009 10:55 AM

Hello!

I have circuit connect on 2 pole breakder in 120/208v panel connect phase-phase. For power calculation do I use:

P=208*I*PF

If not what do I use please? What do we call this, 2-phase? 1-phase?

Thankyou!

Correct if you know the values of V, I , and PF.

For me phase-neutral voltage is "phase voltage",

phase-phase voltage is "line voltage",

so there is no "phase voltage" in the supply whose transformer is delta connected,

The power formula is correct.

It is still 1 phase (line to line or 2 hot wire) supply. Unlike phase to neutral supply, you have to use protection in both lines (either by 2 pole breaker or fuses in both lines).

The idea of 2 phase supply (4 wire system) is completely different and it is an old system, not used now a day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two-phase_electric_power).

Thanks,

it is the voltage line to line 208 -----if it is 120 then it is line to phase
