• The following table includes a variety of fluxes and wires used in SAW:

...................

• The following link is for WPS's & PQR's used in a job for fabrication of pressure vessel fabricated from carbon steel, and both processes SMAW and SAW: WPS's & PQR's

• The following links are very interesting for filler metals: ESAB_Basic_Welding_Filler_Metal_Technology & ESAB Filler_Metals_Handbook

• There are a lot of international welding companies producing the wires and fluxes used in SAW such as: ESAB, Lincoln, Hobart, ... etc.

There are lots of brands available in different countries for SAW, FCAW, GMAW, SMAW and other processes also. It is up to us to select a particular type which again depends up on your experience with brands, its popularity among the user circles, approvals by third party Inspectors/ surveyors, availability of particular combination matching your base metal and not but least its Quality, Consistency, and prices .

The choice is yours. Even if locals ones are available you can conduct tests, make a WPS and PQR , qualify them. There is no hard and fast rule saying that you have to go for a particular brand.

Generally we choose min. 2 brands depending upon its availability and quantity requirements.

Some of the renewed brands are Esab, Oerlikon, Lincoln, Hobart, Sudometal, Alloy rods etc. They all work with agglomerated flux and you can get these and many more in Singapore and Malaysia.

For carbon steel materials you follow, ASME Sec. II part C. SFA 5.17 and for Alloy steel - SFA 5.23 codes. Depending upon your base metal chemistry, strength, PWHT, choose your requirement from EL8 , EM12K, EH14 etc.

Similarly, Lots of Flux cored wires are available for welding Carbon steels (AWS SFA 5.20), Alloy Steel (AWS SFA 5.29), SS 308L, 316L, 309L 410, 430 etc., (AWS SFA 5.22), hard facing & surfacing applications and for use with CO2 gas..

Trust above details will help you in choosing your right requirement.

Sridhar.
