Hello All,
Can we start a discussion on the above topic and share our experiences in Instrumentation.
My inputs,
It is some times hard for an Instrumentation Engineer to implement change. From my experience so far, it is a very responsible job considering the breakdown of an Instrument can cause a disaster. As we saw in the Texas BP refinery. I understand that regular maintenance is required but to what extent to trust the vendors with their Instrumentation products is a big issue. I understand that experience will teach every one but whether to be Optimistic or Pessimistic is a big question. The place I work I have hardly seen any Instrumentation Engineers staying back. May be they left as we have shortage here for those skills or may be they found this place too challenging to work.
The operations hardly believe Instrumentation Engineers and untill there are redundancies in the design it is not easy to work and implement change. But with no redundancies a shut is the only option sometimes.
C'mon Gents and Ladies lets have a discussion and share our experiences.
