Industrial Zippers

11/13/2009 2:01 AM

Hello,

I am considering closing a work area 4 m wide and 3m high with a flexible PVC/polyester sheet. I want to attach this sheet with a strong U-shaped zipper that curves at the top corners. Does anyone know of a particular type of zip that is able to curve while remaining attched. The curve will be on the flat side, that is why I am not sure it will work. What is the largest size of zipper that is available for industry? The strength is needed as there will be about 40 pascals of air pressure on the sheet. Thanks for any help.

I do not have a specific reference for you, but this sounds very much like zippers used for clear plastic curtains on yachts. You may find your zipper in the pleasure boat industry. I have seen all sorts of configurations, including rounded corners, that can withstand some pretty significant wind pressures...

They use curved zippers in heavy duty industrial tents. Like the ones used by catering companies.

So maybe if you contact a local awing & tent comapny they can help you.

Understanding that you want to use zippers, but have you thought of using steel velcro?
