Motor Terminology

11/16/2009 3:16 AM

Motor reduction = 483 / 110 = 4.39
Mechanical reduction = 24
1 Screw round : 8 mm
1 motor round = 4096 points

Multi / Divi = (8 x 110) / (4096 x 483 x 24) = 55 / 2967552

what does "screw round" and "motor round" mean?

Re: a few questions on motor

Sounds to me like it's a bad translation, referring to a leadscrew drive.

"1 Screw round : 8 mm" - Each turn of the leadscrew results in 8mm of linear motion.

"1 motor round = 4096 points" - the motor is fitted with an encoder or resolver giving 4096 counts per turn.

You're welcome - but for future reference, you're more likely to get a decent reply if you give a bit more background. Is this from a specification against which you have to tender? Is it from a user guide for some equipment you've purchased? Or what?

The more information you can give (stated concisely - don't ramble on for pages & pages! ), the better will be the quantity and quality of your replies.

Re: Motor Terminology

Do you know the rpm of the motor? The 483/110 might be a reasonable gearmotor ratio, but where would 483 input rpm come from, if that is what it is?

JohnDG's guess of "round" = "revolution" makes perfect sense (GA), along with the ideas about lead screw and encoder.

I have some doubts about the arithmetic in the OP, but I will have think about it more.

' .... "screw round" represents the nominal OD (outer diameter) of the screw'

What do you base that on?

I would tend to agree with your raised eyebrow.. OP says "1 Screw round : 8 mm", the reference number 1 indicates to me 1 of something... perhaps revolution?
