Gasoline Fuel Tank Design for Three-Wheeler

11/18/2009 1:57 AM

The gasoline tank is positioned in the engine compartment.

The envirnment temperature is around 75deg C.

We get overflow through petrol tank cap, breather holes and carburetor.

It may be due to the vapour formation and no adequate vapour head volume in the fuel tank.

How to decide the vapour head volume for a gien fule tank overall capacity.

Is there any empirical formula available.

Hello Saranathan,

Are you designing the tank yourself? Your questions lead me to believe that you have a very inadequate understanding of the physical principles to do this work.

You don't need formulae, but a good understanding of thermodynamics; the relationships between mass, temperature, volume and pressure. This kind of information is found in books. A Google search on the subject (thermodynamics) will yield many hits.

Sincerely,

Mike
