Single Phase Motor Connections

11/19/2009 3:40 AM

I have just rewound a single phase motor of 4pole 48 slots. The running winding had 4 sets BUT the starting had 2sets only. How do we make connections outside on terminal block?? I have tried the common way but the motor heats. ie-start+run--L

RUNN+ CAP, START+CAP-- L1. Urgent response will be much appricated. This motor is italian make and is for Jet wash.

Is there an OEM manual for this equipment?

you have 4 pole, 2 pole from running and 2 pole from starting. connect 1 pole from running and 1 pole from starting and neutral. anther 1 pole of running connect with phase. now connect 1 pole from starting and capacitor. other pole of capacitor connect with phase. if the motor running anti clock ways then just inter change the starting pole each other. subha

Thanks, as i said that the Running winding has 4 sets BUT the starting winding has two sets only. The motor is 1500RPM ie 4pole. Single phase 220volts with permnent cap of 40mf 350volts.There is no centrifugal switch to cut off the starting winding. So the starting winding is in the circuit always.

dear user, do the connection, no problem. i know that. the cap is 40 mfd 350 volts, it is working properly. flow the voltage always through running and starting coil. you can do this connection confidently, OK. subha
