hydro test condition

11/25/2009 8:16 AM

hi all,

What is the allowable stress for the hydrotest condtion for pressure vessel.

As it is mentioned in ASME GENERAL PRIMARY MEMBRANE STRESS(Pm) SHOULD LESS THAN 95% OF YIELD.

I want know the stress limit for the local primary membrane stress(PL). for example if stress at shell nozzle junction, with what value it should be compared.

thankyou

sagar

Contact the Engineer/Surveyor responsible for the insurance company that will be providing burst indemnity insurance cover for the vessel and discuss it with that individual. The requirements will differ depending on whether the fluid is an incompressible non-flammable liquid, a flammable liquid/vapour mixture, whether the liquid is above its normal boiling temperature in the vessel (like in a steam boiler), whether the vessel is fired or unfired, etc.

Make the call early.
