I'd start with a search of each item and compare the results.

toughened glass is float glass that has been toughened. best to look up the toughening (sometimes referred to as tempering) processs.

the heat that is able to be withstood depends on the rate at which heating/cooling is done and the thickness of the glass.

for instance, the heat soak test for toughened glass deliberately heats up the glass to a temperature below toughening temperature and then cools it rapidly to check for nickel sulphide inclusions which would make the glass break in service at a future date.

some good sites for this are:

-wiki (to begin with)

-http://www.glassfiles.com/ (you need to register for free to be able to access their free library but definitely worth it)

a good book on the subject is Michael Wiggington's Glass in Architecture

Any glass can stand 300ºC. The problem is that they behave differently withthermal shock.

Glasses like borosil can stand sudden changes in temperature. Soda glass will break. If you application does not involve sudden changes in temperature any glass will work.
