Calculating Current Carrying Capacity

is there any exact formulae for calculating current carring capacity of alluminium armoured cable?just like 180 sq.mm 3.5 core....

Of course there are formulas. All of them are global calculations.

Better ask the manufacturer's catalogs, listing their real test results, for each cable they manufacture, under different conditions. This is the reliable way.

Best is to follow the manufacturers' catalogues. At least the DC Current Carrying Capacity can be calculated as it is affected only by the resistance which has got a very linear relationship with the cross section of the cable conductor.

Whereas AC current carrying capacity is decided by the impedance, which again is dependant upon the Resistance & Reactance of the cable. The resistance would vary for different cross sections of the conductor linearly but the reactances will not vary linearly. That is the problem.
