12/07/2009 6:21 AM
Dear Sir,
This is Ravi .M (m_ravi1110@yahoo.com)
We have a list of test & measurement equipments for our testing activity,
Presently we are operating this instrument manualy and I need to convert to this as a automition system
Examper : I need to verifiy RF signal generator it's having Frequency rang from
10 MHz to 26.5 GHz and Amplitude rang -110dB to +13 dB
We will verifiy this RF signal generator using Spectrum analyzer with same rang with following below Procedure
1Connect the equipment as shown in Figure
2On the Signal Generator , Press

PRESET. Set the controls as follows:

CW frequency . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1.5 GHz

Power level . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . −10 dBm

3On the spectrum analyzer, press PRESET. Set the controls as follows:

Center frequency. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1.5 GHz

Span . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1 MHz

4On the spectrum analyzer, press

RECALL, MORE 1 OF 2,FACTORY PRSEL PK.

5On the spectrum analyzer, press

PEAK SEARCH.

6Record the MKR frequency in Table 1-1 as the marker reading.
7Repeat steps 2 and 6 for all frequency listed in table 1-1

I would use National Instrument's LabVIEW software to automate that test. They also have a SW package called Signal Express that is cheaper, and will do most of what you outlined.

Is the same person as RAVI 1110?

I have had extensive experience with signal generators and spectrum analyzers, but I am not a programmer. You can automate the process that you described using a PC and software such as Visual Basic. Excel can be programmed with VB as well, which can make reporting easier.
