In pressure vessels and piping, we recommend using of LW flanges in branch connections as a nozzles to avoid welding of flange to a nozzle piece of pipe.

In pressure vessels and piping systems subjected to high pressures, and for making a branch connection, we use a special type of LW flanges called Integral Flanges, where the flange is produced with a nozzle neck where its end having a calculated thickness higher than the standard thickness of flange nozzle to compensate and in lieu of using a nozzle pad.

SLAAM TO MR.ABDEL HALIM GALALA,

Dear sir,

Plaese tell me ,as what I understand is correct or not seeing the dimensions you given in fig.as follows

Say for example size 2" - 600#

'A' = Hub at base dimension of 2"-600# of ASME B16.5.

'B' = 2.000" (50.8mm) unless other wise specified. But can it be to the to specific

sch. of the size ie. for sch40 - 2.067"(52.5mm),sch80 - 1.939(49.25mm) and

so on.

dimensions 'O','G','R','C','N','d' as per ASME B16.5 class 600#

Also,I feel dimension 'C' and 'N' in case of class 150# and 300# will be inclding of RF Hight 0.062"(1.6mm).

As usual, Your answer is very good.

Thank you.

V.D.DEODHAR.

Also, in a slip-on flange, the pipe will be welded to the flange via a fillet weld, with a fairly abrupt change of angle and an effective weld area equal to 1/√2 times the leg measurement. A weld-neck flange thickens toward the actual flange and also facilitates a full-penetration butt weld with the pipe; thus it is typically stronger.

Many cases for using long weld neck flanges is for access for the bolts if bolting to valves and /or vessels length of bolt clashes with valve body or vessel.

Hope this helps.
