CT is current transformer (as is the usual abbreviation) of course the current transducer can also be called CT

The differences are too many to be listed here, both belong to different genus.

Google each and read the descriptions (bound to be available in wiki)

BTW: while you are at it, contribute some money to it, for the help it has rendered.

A current transformer converts the high primary amperes into low secondary amperes. At both primary & secondary the unit is amperes. Whereas in a current transducer, the primary is amperes and the secondary can either be 4 to 20mA or 0 to 10V.

A Transducer converts one form of energy to another form, or another level. So from that standpoint, a CT (Current Transformer) is in fact a Current Transducer of a sort. But generally, we differentiate.

A CT only changes the level, or ratio, of the same form of energy, namely AC current. A large amount of AC current goes through it, a smaller amount of AC current goes out of it.

The term Current Transducer on the other hand is used to describe the transformation of current into something different, i.e DC voltage, DC milliamps, pulses trains of DC voltage or fiber optic light, audible tones etc. A Current Transducer also, by the way, could be transforming DC current into another energy form or level, whereas a Current Transformer will only pertain to AC.

Current Transformer: Gives AC current output, which is directly proportionate to the

Primary current

Current Transducer: Gives DC current out put, whcih is directly proportionate to the

Primary current
