medium voltage and low voltage ducts

Dear All;

i have design issue with MV(13kV) and LV (480kV), for cost saving i tried to put mv and lv in same duct banks ( MV bottom layer)

and i checked NEC, i couldnt find any info about segregation of MV and LV underground installation.

all replies will be appriciated

Dear Guest,

The following reply is based on a specification and detail installation for MV cables and LV cables.

LNG Plant in Bornero: It is very clear that cable of different voltage system shall not be installed above each others, except for crossing & related control cable.

LNG plant in Papua: The LV and MV cable shall not be installed above each other except for cable control related. At the same duct in horzontal layer is accepeted within a certain distance.

LNG plant in Celebes: No other cables shall be installed with MV cable 11 kV main distribution cable except for LV interlock, relaying, and control cable for the switchgear associated with distribution cable.

The above installation are direct buried in cable trench, instead of cable duct bank using PVC inside concrete.

I believe the above installation is based on safety reason for maintenance purpose in repairing broken cable.
