Air Blower/Compressor Needed

01/19/2007 4:46 AM

Hello everybody!

This is my first contribution (actually question) to this forum. I have followed it a bit though and I find it quite interesting and it has been also already quite useful in my work. At my company we are developing PE fuel cells (www.ceka.ch).

Now, I am looking for air blowers and/or compressors in the range of 10 normliter/min (0.01m3/min) to 70 nL/min (0.07m3/min). The desired overpressure is in the range of 100 to 500 mbar.

Important criteria are volume, weight and power consumption of the blowers/compressors.

Has anyone a good tip or even info on this? I thank all in advance.

Regards,

Marco

The volumetric flow rate is too small for any commercial positive displacement blower that I know of. Your best bet is to look at small diaphragm compressors used for air brush applications.

Check out vacuum@tuthill.com for more information regarding blowers.

They will have all - including a variable Speed motor to cover range of flows you need.

The duty looks similar to a compressor used for spraying paint onto miniature models by hobbyists. In the UK, £60 upwards would secure one that plugs into a domestic appliance socket.

An alternative to an air compressor for limited applications is the canister containing an inert propellant. In the UK they can be had over-the-counter in model shops for £3.5 onwards, though of course they don't contain breathable air.
