Start generator, turbine, or whatever. Warm up as necessary.

Use synchroscope or timing lights to match frequency of incoming unit to existing line frequency.

Close breaker.

Observe meters and make fine-tuning adjustments so load is properly divided among generating sources.

I'm sorry this is a bit vague, but at least it is less vague than before....
