Switch Gear CAM Switch

12/30/2009 3:24 AM

hello sir .... i wounder u can help me out.

i hve installed a NEW switch gear ...but i hve a problem ... the problem is in previous switch gear.. i had the CAM switch which was used for giving a signal to PLC whenever a Circuit Breaker turn's ON to OFF or from OFF on to ON.

but my new switch gear didnt came with a CAM switch and as now i cant not install a cam switch ... so therefore i need some sort of timer or control realy ..... who just give me signal when the Circuit Breaker turns ON and OFF.... the problem is i dnt want a continous signal ... i just want a pulse of no more then 5 sec in each cse..mean a 5 sec pulse when a CB turns from ON to OFF or from OFF to ON....my control voltage is 110V DC and the max current is uo tp 15 amps.

plz help me .. if you know any such control relay or timer which can serve my purpose , or anyone has any slotuion do let me know , i will b v greatful to you .. thank you .

kind reagrds.

And this didn't get picked up at Factory Acceptance Testing?

Then it's an "extra" from the switch gear supplier. Pick up the phone and talk to them.

You can use relay 74 (ANSI Device number) in series with tripping coil and closing coil respectively. However, this relay contact is close or open instantaneously when repectively coil energize.

I haven't studied this very closely, but you might want to ask about a "one-shot" relay configuration. When the coil is energized, this type of relay switches its contacts briefly and then returns to normal. These are typically "ice-cube" relays with 8- or 11-pin sockets, or 14-blade sockets if more contact poles are needed.

thank you borther for your reply .... but i think you didnt get my problem .

the problem is ...i have installed a MV switch gear and that switch gear should give a pulse of 5 sec to PLC whenever the Circuit Breaker goes ON from OFF or from OFF to ON ....so now i have 2 auxiliary contact point from C.B. one is NO and the other is NC...so i m looking for a contact relay , timer or single shot realy or any programeable relay ... who can give me a pulse of 5 sec and then goes off.....and my control voltage is 110V DC and yeah i cannot put a burden on PLC ( means i cannot put any relay on PLC side only contacts.) i hope u got the required information .

Regards Brother.

I got your problem now and was also some of your problem.

Thanks for your reply in detail. I hope that you can use one or both Aux Switches to operate a Single-Shot pulser. Very simple circuits exist or can be made out of discrete components.

Have a fine day & Happy New Year day [It is never too late !!!]

Brother.

Are you clear about time of the pulse?

I wonder it is in your old switchgear by a cam-switch [which is part of the main-switch]

Is your switchgear a Motor-driven Circuit breaker.

If so those have a lot of Add-ons.

Can you give me the exact manufacturer of the old & new one with their part numbers so I could do something which may be of your help.

I think pulsewidth of 5 seconds is too long, but can be achieved by a time-delay-relay [TDR] if it is difficult from an electronic circuit.

As for circuits I am out of touch with practical of electronics for some time but hope a vast expansion to alternates to once only possible by electromechanical devicehhs.

You try to search & i will also search.

Have a nice day.

Wa Salaam [On you also Peace from God Almighty].

I hope that the old one still be in your access & you know the functions of the OLD one.

By the way if you look on the old

1. some information may be readable

2. Add-ons like Under-Voltage, or Over-Voltage or No-Voltage cutouts & like that.

Without any further info I am limmited & can't help much.

Have a fine day !!!!!
