P.E. Test Locations?

01/04/2010 12:48 PM

Where do they hold P.E. examinations? Do they hold them at national testing centers such as Prometric? I'm sure it will depend on each state and its rules. I appreciate your help. Thank you!

Everywhere and anywhere.

In Central Mass, the fall exams where held at the Greek Church and religious center in Worcester.

Years ago, the exams where held at Worcester Polytech.

There is no set formula for hosting a test site.

Contact your P. E. licensing bureau in the capital of your state. I took my test in Pittsburgh in Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall, and my EIT test was there , also.

In a previous answer, anywhere and everywhere is a pretty good answer

Hello KER_Recruiter:

I see that you hail from Buffalo. Nice city to visit! GO BILLS!!!!!! BTW, I was born there at Buff. General where my mom was a RN...dad was attending dental school at the time at BU.

If I'm not mistaken, the PE exam has been administered in Buffalo in the past. Actually it's administered in a couple dozen locations throughout New York State. Are you looking to take Part A Fundamentals of Engineering, or Part B Principles & Practices of Engineering?

In any regard, if you're taking the exam in NYS, you will need to contact the Office of the Professions / NYS Education Department in order to receive the necessary forms and instruction packet. Give yourself lots of lead time so that you can get it back to them by their deadline. Their office is located in the Nelson Rockefeller Empire State Plaza at the NYS Cultural Center on Madison Avenue in Albany New York.

Google search the "NYS Office of the Professions" or the "NYS Education Department". Everything is there that you will need, including their Telephone and fax numbers and email addies. Word of advice: if you plan on calling there do so early in the morning, say around 9 AM-ish. If you try to call them after lunch forget about getting through as the phone traffic is impossible!

Good luck, and please have a great sunny day!

Thank you everyone for your help! I called the NYS Prof Lic Office and they informed me of when and what cities in NYS will facilitate the tests. Although they did not provide the exact location, they did provide the 3rd party testing vendor they use to administer the tests.
