Stellite alloy is a range of cobalt-chromium alloys designed for wear resistance. It may also contain tungsten or molybdenum and a small but important amount of carbon.

STELLITE® 6 is the most generally useful cobalt alloy, having excellent resistance to many forms of mechanical and chemical degradation over a wide temperature range.

Meaning , Stellite combats multiple service environs such as following:

- Frictional wear/ tear

- Erosion

- Chemical Corrossion

- High Temperature

Stellite maintains its hardness at high temperature . Metal to metal wear is accelarated at higher temperature.Stellite offers good hardness to ressist the efect of high temperature softening.

Hence service temperature shoulbe more important a criterion while selecting the cobalt alloy. While planning for a Hardfacing weldability with the base material would also come into play and many times Hestalloy is considered for this as well as economical purpose.

Try a phone call to the local friendly Valves Distributor. Yell.com?

Do turn off Caps Lock before making the call. People don't like to be shouted at.
