Markon Marine Generators

01/11/2010 2:51 AM

Good Day!

I would like to know if any of the experts here have come across the mentioned alternator ? If you are kind enough to send me the following Makon generator drawing? I tried to find it in your website but could not get anything from there.

Kindly send to me if you have and appreciate your help, thanks.

The Markon generator specs are as follows:

4MB604H 803099/1

390KW, 912A

1800RPM

Hope to hear from you soon.

You will most probably never get a drawing. That would be tantamount to commercial suicide as Far Eastern companies would make cheap copies and sell them illegally.....sometimes using even the same name!!!

You would not by chance trying to do just that yourself???? As I cannot imagine any other reason to need the drawings.

Perhaps you can enlighten me (us) further on that point as to why you need them?

I need to open up the alternator. At the moment, part of the epoxy and resin they used to insulate the exciter coupling flange and bolts has broken away and got between the exciter armature and the field coils.

Part of the epoxy and resin they used to insulate the exciter coupling flange and bolts has broken away and got between the exciter armature and the field coils. to remove the bolts securing the exciter armature I first must remove a Bakelite flange used for mounting the 2 mounting plates for the diodes, this worry me in case I damage it, plus I'm not quite sure how its secured to the shaft

Even if I was successful in removing the exciter armature I cannot see how they can reapply the epoxy and resin around the circumference of the flange coupling without removing the main armature there is not enough room behind the exciter armature for one to see what one is doing I had to use a mirror to see where the 2 large lumps of epoxy had come?

So please don't be mistaken me of using illegal ways to get the drawing. If onboard there is a dwg then the engineer and myself will not have such a hard time trying. Mind you this alternator is not a new alternator, and no longer in Markon series.

Hopefully they can search their achive files and get the dwgs.

I suspect that you will need to have an agent repair the unit. That way you also get a guarantee......

That just means you have to pay to get the work done.

A DIY repair on what could be real life threatening situations (assuming on a boat of some sort!) is tantamount to suicide........it will always go wrong in the worst timming imaginable. As you appear NOT to be a professional in this area, either pay to have it repaired by a professional or bite the bullet and get it replaced with a known good example......

I still don't think that you are going to get the drawings though!!! So I am assuming that even spare parts are not available either......if both are true, then just dump it for safety reasons......

Wasn't it a British Prime Minister Edward Heath, a keen Yachtsman, who told a reporter that sailing was like " Standing fully clothed under a cold shower, tearing up banknotes!"

Yachtsmen always have money!! Somewhere.....!!!
