My Laptop Hijacked

01/11/2010 9:28 AM

Imagine yourselves , one of this days find your laptop with the bios passwd changed , programs that start on different hours that you first made them to start, the SQL server turns on and off with out your control, the mem. registers , well they don't register as they should...!

could you sleep well at night with all this?

Is this a plea for help, or are you just cranky from no sleep?

When you get it fixed, set up a couple of dummy partitions and give one of them the C: designation. Keep all the good stuff in another spot. Then when the bad guys infect your C: drive, nothing happens to your sleep patterns.

Pleasant dreams!

Think about what you're asking us. You're asking us how to hack into a locked laptop that you claim you rightfully own. The only valid public answer will be to contact the manufacturer for having the computer returned to them and pay their fee. If you are the registered owner, they will send the laptop back to you.

Your best solution would be to Flash the BIOS to the latest version or if it's already installed just rerun the BIOS Upgrading program with the same BIOS Version. That should clear out the installed Passwords but you'll have to reset the BIOS after Flashing it.

All of the BIOS that I've flashed with a password lock (a total of 2) required password entry. To not require an entry seems to defeat the purpose of a password.

Lol Man, I hope I never forget my BIOS password. If I do, I wont post it here. Lol. Also when I buy a laptop, I'm gonna keep that receipt with me at all times, just in case...

I heard tell there are other laptops than Toshiba but I'd not have any other...calling the manufacturer is the best remedy but of course this only works if you are the legal owner otherwise they may call the cops too.

This doesn't mean I don't believe them even if I don't believe them

No! It did not work!

who made this changes in my pc remotely knew very well my system .

and took the time to consider the odds!

thats what you get when you buy your pc in large markets...you don't know what they put into them and ...bollocks

Imagine programmers that actually backed up their work.

Re: My Laptop Hijacked

Cant imagine it myself! I don't trust my computer to keep track of anything to any level of security!

Its why every computer I have has multiple backups of everything on external hard drives that are only connected to them when something needs backing up (or resetting) which is done fairly often when important stuff is added.

I also delete all of my emails and other communications near daily too! I think a few enviro scientist wannabes learned about how that works and why its important rather recently?

What have you got against Microsoft windows operating systems?

Seriously thou, just disconnect from the internet and run a full virus and malware check with the most up to date engines and databases to solve the problem (that's how I solved my hijacked computer problem).

By the way you forgot constantly maxed-out processor, no matter what the computer is doing.

Allowing the opportunity to exist for others to manipulate you should cost some sleep.
