why hydrostatic pressure is 1.5 times the design preesure

Basically two types of hydrostatic tests; Tightness: Conducted following maintenance to verify the integrity of the system . . . i.e. the system does not leak after being opened for repair and is thus safe to operate. Integrity: To verify that the system will "never" fail . . . very the structural strength of the system under static load.

.....also, because the engineer/surveyor for the company that is providing burst indemnity insurance requires it to be shown.
