Replacement IGBT Modules

01/20/2010 7:36 AM

Can anyone advise on the part no for a replacement 600V 100A IGBT module

for a Murex Sabrearc 80i plasma cutter. The photo shows the part no was rubbed out by the friendly welding repair shop that wanted £900.00 to fix but offered a replacement plasma cutter for £1200.00.

I checked powerex CM100DY-12H-IGBT modules on the web and the specs show a similar module but it was smaller and it only has 2 mounting holes.

Regards

You haven't given dimensions, but some of the ones that RS supply look as if they may do the job. Look here.

Regards.

You are asking for a device for 600V, 100A while I can't see any device similar to your drawing which has 4 Mounting points in this range.

Only more than 200A are in this shape.

Can you give :

Dims of device

Operating Voltage of your Equipment,; DC to IGBT

Specs of Cutter; Watt , Volts, Amps [Input ] Output power

Rs components have a lot of @ less than 200£ for a single piece.

Installation is not difficult; hope you have noted the wires; power [Bolt fixings] & Signal [push-on clip terminated] .

And you have already taken it out.

Apply Thermal paste sparingly on the heat sink after thorough cleanig.

Rub the device on heat sink to ensure paste is evenly applied on surface.

No matter your device is 600V rated, demand 1200V someone more current ratings.

It is safe if mechanical dimentions allow. Normally the mounting Holes are the major criteria otherwise there will be a good space around the IGBT.

Start from the page 1. It has 4 pages to look for device

Hope it may be of any help.

Haajee

Thanks for your help. I have found a scrap of the original label and it shows that the IGBT module is 24H which is 1200V not 600V. This along with the mounting hole dimensions of 93mm x 48mm limits choice to the following Powerex H series replacement modules. CM200DY-24NF. CM300DY-24NF. CM300DY-24NFH which i think is the replacement that i require as it is for use in welders etc, and the CM400DY-24NF. I will wait for more information in the hope that anyone with the same Murex 80i plasma cutter can confirm the IGBT part no. The circuit diagram lists the part at 600V 100A but manufacturers can update and change specs etc.

JFI - When you find the correct part don't forget to install at correct torque with adequate heat seal compound as these often can cause premature failure too.
