Electric Tram Project

01/21/2010 5:53 AM

I have been working for a "Conveyors system" project in our corrugator plant in which a tram will pick up the produced sheets from corrugator and load onto roller conveyors. All the material is second hand. I am wondering for how to run the power supply cable (Flat cable or a bus bar) with tram as the distance is almost 70Mtrs where tram will work. Can any body help me out?

What's the (approx) scale of this thing? (to start with, what is the material being corrugated - cardboard? iron? ...? How big?).

How many sensors/actuators will the tram have to carry? What type?

A bit more detail, please!

why not use the same battery and drive system as an electric pallet truck or forklift.. the batteries can last a day... you keep a couple in a docking system charging. Then you don't need a conduit at all... just lines on the floor for the robot to follow.. (or human ) (see example)

Hi Signode,

We had similar system working in our factory in Mumbai. We had installed Protected Bus Bar System. It is safe system and worked well for years. It is not expensive system costing only U.S$ 25 per meter. It can work on curved paths also. I can provide you more details if you are interested.

Dear Friends;

I need help from anyone regarding my new Conveyors system project. I recieved all the material (from Belgium) as second hand and about 10years old including Tram manufactured by Pentek. The Tram has a Siemens S5 PLC. I have drawing and PLC programe listing but not in english but don't have operational manual and don't know how to operate the Tram. Can anybody help me out? I tried to Google search the Pentek Trams but failed.

Hi Signode,

I think you have AGV (Automatic Guided Vehicle) and you have named it as Tram. These AGVs are PLC operated and have battery to power them.They are fitted with PLC to run on programme. These vehicles do no need separate power feeding device. They are guided by embedded wire in the floor. Please confirm if you have such equipment.
