Support in My Work Activity

01/25/2007 12:54 PM

I had been reluctant to buy anything on line, however, I just got some electronic component, that I couldn't find in Mexico, in a store (digi-Key), that made it seem reliable, simple and fast.

Does anyone know a reliable store that have electrical material, specifically, parts for pad mounted distribution transformers? the brands I know are from Cooper Power Systems, and ABB, there might exist from G.E., but I haven't seen them.

I have clear that this is not much of a technical matter, but it is what I am concern with, rigth now. Thanks for your advise or information.

Try www.mouser.com and www.alliedelec.com - these are both good sources.

Hi bhankii,

This is off-topic, but I noticed you're located in El Lago, TX, near Clear Lake. How'd you fare during Katrina?

I know who digi-key is. I receive catalogs from them. I would say that the component is probably fine as long as it meets the specification. Pad mounted distibution transformers are before the electric meter and are usually by the local electric utility, so you get stuck with the manufacturer they use. If the pad mount needs parts, this should be by the local utility because they own it. From the meter on is usually an owner's responsibility.

...also, since you know the manufacturer of the parts you want, contact them, or go to their websites for a list of distributors. Some of them, like Cooper, let you order straight from their website.

Once found, many suppliers' sales offices across the globe will accept a telephone order, with payment being made over-the-telephone by a credit- or debit-card.
