Non-Magnetizable S/S Wire

Hi all

I am looking to a supplier of non-magnetisable wire 1.50 mm diameter to specification werkstoff no. 1.3962 (X 15 CrNiMn 12 10) or equivalent.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

That can be difficult, because that type of wires physical properties or different. The critical one. Increase fracturabilty.

Did you try www.McMaster.com ?

Try web-sites of Thyssen, Bohler, Lincoln Electric-Europe, T-Put, and Metrode for a start.

Thank you both for your replies.

This material is Armature Binding Wire and is urgently needed for a repair. I have tried the suggested websites and have not yet found this material.

Do you know of an equivalent material that would suit ?

316 stainless is generally nonmagnetic but I don't think it matches the properties you want. Why don't you contact a motor rebuilding firm and ask them what they use?

Hi, what about bronze or any other copper-alloy?

If your wanted material is not in stock you will have to buy around 100 Kg minimum to get it fabricated.

Many "nonmagnetic" SS materials are still slightly magnetic if cold worked!
