There is no calculation!! This is empirically derived design found to be effective over time. The appropriate design found then establishes the local code.

Consult the local code standards with an authorized engineer. If your location does not have an electric code standard, then choose one of them.

In Hungary, i.e. system ISO, there is no calculation, but mesurement on site. Resistence of the electrode and conductiblity of the soil is to be considered. go up on your local WEB page of the electric normes and usage to find the right ansver for you. Bela
