Eg: posts:1245 GA'S:32 therefor, AVE 38.9 posts / GA. GA is a good indication as to how much salt one adds to replies one receives and I feel that a GA "rate" would help. does anyone agree?

Absolutely no. The beuty lies in the eyes of only two beholders.

Look around and you will see genuine GAs not awarded and vice-versa.

Although a "technical" forum GA-s are not only an estimation of real technical value.

The ratio is pretty constant in average with a few exceptions.

I believe that the current system is fine. Do the math in your head, if it matters to you.

a few guys were kicked off because they opened a few accounts to cross post GA, so some people value them highly enough to buy them with integrity.

The more spare time I have and the more time I research, the more GA I get, which is like any task, work at it, do well.

There's nothing wrong with the current system. This is not the military or government where if it works it needs to be fixed.

GA's are awarded for many reasons. For instance you may get one for an incredible answer to someone's question today then another next week for a really good joke or barb. Even for just finding and posting a great link. You just never know.

In the end it's all up to the mood of the others who are reading the posts and how they decide to take your comment.

It is true that some really good and well thought out answers have gone overlooked but if the poster is not here just for the GA's but is here to help he doesn't care about that.(sorry for the run on sentence)

I think that this is a very good answer and deserves a GA!Well, what are you waiting for!?Where's my GA???GIMME GIMME GIMME!!!(Sorry,I seem to have lost my head for a moment.I'm much better now. give me my GA AND I"LL BE FINE....)(I'm having a hard time with this but I think I'm over the worst of it now. Oh, now where did I leave that medicine?)

The problem with the average system that you propose is that it ignores the fact that several "old timers " had a lot of posts prior to the GA system being added.
So they would start off with a denominator of 1000 or 1500 before they got their first "GA" I am one such old timer. so is del the cat.

Its not a big deal.

Knowing that we provided an assist when it was needed- that is the real joy of participating on CR4.
